LeAnne Johansen Photography bio picture

Welcome to my Blog!

In order to tell you why I love doing what I do, I have to make a confession. I have a horrible memory. I never know if I actually remember events or if I just remember them because I have seen photographs of them. Fortunately, I have always carried a camera everywhere, taking pictures of everything (much to the annoyance of many of my friends and family) so I can look back at the photographs and always remember!

Documenting every moment is the root of my style. I want you to be able to remember everything & everyone as they are at that time in their life.  Even if it means a baby is constantly making spit bubbles, or holds his fingers in his mouth, it isn't an imperfection, it is a memory of that time in their life. If a five year old is as crazy as can be, let's not force him to sit up straight and tilt his head to the camera, let's remember who he is.

I love working inside the studio and with nature as the backdrop. I love new babies, kids of all ages, seniors, families & weddings. I take pride in keeping my work modern and fresh by going to photography workshops and seminars throughout the year.

I look forward to meeting you and creating photographs so you are able to always remember the special moments in your life.

MINNEAPOLIS FAMILY

I was up in the Cities a couple weeks ago to photograph a couple friends with their two-year old… it was one of those FREEZING July days!  We lucked out an finished up right before it started to rain.  I’m used to the parks and other areas in Mankato so it was really fun to be...

ABC’S

What does photographer do when on vacation?  Well, I put myself to a challenge on my recent trip to San Francisco.  I wanted to photograph the alphabet without photographing any man-made letters… I also made the rule that we couldn’t “create” any letters by moving nature around.  For some, I used creative angles to “make”...

ANOTHER BEAUTIFUL FAMILY!

This beautiful family came in from Courtland for their family session at the park.  It was so great to see how much these little boys LOVE their baby sister.  They were just great big brothers – watching out for her, hugging her & as you can see, kissing her with big kisses.  SO CUTE!

PROPS…

If you have looked through any of my galleries, you have probably notice that I’m not a huge fan of props.  On the other hand, I ABSOLUTELY ADORE one or two simple toys, blankets, or other items that mean something to the child or the family.  This little guy’s Grandpa had given him a toy...

TRANSFORMERS!

My 4-year old loves to see where Daddy goes when he travels for work.  This time, Daddy took a Transformer with to see the sights.  Here are a few pictures of the Transformer in Pennsylvania!

BLUE EARTH NEWBORN

I love babies!!!  Ideally, I have found that the first week of life is the perfect time to photograph newborns.  When they are that new, most of them are still sleepy and are okay being curled back up.  After about a week, they tend to only want their legs straight out.  Although, some never want to curl up again...

GENERATIONS OF BEAUTY!

I feel so blessed to be in a neighborhood with such wonderful people!
Through the years, I have gotten to know this family and have been able to photograph their beautiful children a few times.  I recently had the opportunity to do a small generation session with Grandma, Mom & girls – they are all gorgeous – inside...

My boys are getting old!

Okay – not really… but it’s hard for me to believe that my little guy is already one and his big brother will be four in just a few days!  Here is a short video of my little rascals!

FUN FUN FUN!!

When we were up at the lake this weekend for the 4th of July, I was showing my Grandma my blog & I had to laugh at how many times I said, “this session was really fun…”  or “I had so much fun…”  I have really used the word FUN a lot lately!  I have...
