Welcome to my Blog!

In order to tell you why I love doing what I do, I have to make a confession. I have a horrible memory. I never know if I actually remember events or if I just remember them because I have seen photographs of them. Fortunately, I have always carried a camera everywhere, taking pictures of everything (much to the annoyance of many of my friends and family) so I can look back at the photographs and always remember!

Documenting every moment is the root of my style. I want you to be able to remember everything & everyone as they are at that time in their life.  Even if it means a baby is constantly making spit bubbles, or holds his fingers in his mouth, it isn't an imperfection, it is a memory of that time in their life. If a five year old is as crazy as can be, let's not force him to sit up straight and tilt his head to the camera, let's remember who he is.

I love working inside the studio and with nature as the backdrop. I love new babies, kids of all ages, seniors, families & weddings. I take pride in keeping my work modern and fresh by going to photography workshops and seminars throughout the year.

I look forward to meeting you and creating photographs so you are able to always remember the special moments in your life.

CELEBRATING 50 YEARS!

After being married for 50 years, this couple was still smiling, laughing & holding hands.  I had the great privilege to photograph them & their family at the farm in Elysian where they raised all their children.  It was a beautiful day - the sun was shining, the wind was blowing and they were surrounded by the love of their six children & their families.   Congratulations & I wish your family a lifetime of happiness!

FAMILY LOVE

Seriously – can you feel the love?  The little 2-year old loving up his Daddy & Daddy loving up his beautiful wife; it doesn’t get better than that!   Thanks for coming down to spend the afternoon at the park!!

SIMPLY GORGEOUS

That’s the best word that describes these two girls – gorgeous!  We spent a couple hours wondering around downtown & had SO much fun… they probably thought I was crazy when I started by using a dumpster as a background… then moved to an alley that had a few shopping carts, old wagons, insulation to cover windows…  they were awesome & I think they loved the adventure I took them on!  I have a few hundred images to go through, but I know they are dying to see some of them, so here are a few of my favorites!!  (little ms. t – I do have some great ones of you smiling, I just LOVE your serious look)

BIRTHDAY SMILES {and cries}

This little guy had a nice long nap on the 2-hour trip to Eagle Lake & woke up with a ton of smiles for his session – we wore him out in the studio and then he crashed on their drive back home to Otsego!  His Mommy and I used to live down the street from one another and went to elementary school/jr. high & high school together… we lost touch over the years, but thanks to Facebook, we have been able to catch up again and I have had the privilege to photograph her children a few times now.  I am excited for when we move back to the Cities so our little guys can play!!

So…. we had some big smiles… THEN we put the cake in front of him… and we had tears!!    He really wanted nothing to do with his cake & REALLY did not like it when I told his Mom, “Oh, just shove his hands in the cake & see what he does”  HA!  His loudest cry of the day – OOPS.  Sorry little man….

SPRING IS HERE!

Nothing says spring more than a fun pair of rain boots!  This little 18-month old girl came in with her pretty dress & her bright rain boots that she refused to take off for Mom before getting to the studio.  I thought they were great, so we put them on the correct feet and took a few photos with the boots on.  Hopefully she won’t NEED to wear them too often this spring… I’m ready for SUN, not rain!

After playing & dancing around in the boots, we got some “pretty in pink” shots

and THEN, this little one showed us how much of a GENIUS she is!  She stacked 10 blocks before they came crashing down!!

It was so fun to have you guys back again – your baby girl is ADORABLE! :)

LITTLE PILOT

All we were missing at this session were some old-fashioned knickers!  This little 2-year old boy was adorable in his sweater and cute hat.  He was full of energy and was “all-done” after a couple clicks of the camera.  We pulled out a few tricks and got some great smiles out of him.  Thank you for driving all the way over for his session; it was great to meet you guys!!  I’m anxious for your family session – maybe with some of Daddy’s tractors?!

HAPPY {messy} BIRTHDAY!

Oh, I love the messy birthday cake sessions!  I think the parents love it even more when they find out that I clean up the mess when they leave.  This little sweetheart was lovin’ her cake – we ended up giving her a bath because she was full of cake from head to toes.  LOVE IT!

and a few bright & cheerful images since spring is just around the corner!!!

SILLY SMILES

I can’t believe how much this little two year old grew over the past year – so much taller, longer hair and such a great personality.  She was full of smiles and silly faces for the session.  Happy Birthday, sweetie!!

SIMPLY ADORABLE

It’s always great to see this little guy because I get to chit chat with one of my classmates from High School – it’s always great to see you guys!!

I  had such a hard time narrowing down this little guy’s images for the family to look at because he is just SO CUTE!!  He is 6 months old now and is at the phase where he always wants his hands in his mouth.  Most parents want to take the hands out of their mouths right away – I LOVE the little hands in the mouth & want to be sure to capture this time in their lives, but also love to get their great smiles too – he gave us a little of both!

We had so much fun with the bubbles and this little guy – he was just amazed by them!  He was done with us by the end though (notice the bottom left image in this set!)

kids47

and the best – the “eat the chin” kisses for Daddy!! :)
